The Business Model of Gender Antagonism: Who Gets Paid, Who Pays

Open any social platform and you'll eventually scroll past a post where men and women are tearing each other apart. Someone says all men are trash. Someone says all women are fist-fighters. Thousands of comments. Tens of thousands of shares.

Then you put your phone down and look at the people around you. Your coworkers are working normally. Your friends are hanging out normally. Couples are living their lives normally.

You notice a paradox:

There is no gender war around you. But there is one in your phone.

Because gender war is good business. This article won't take sides. It won't preach. It will only follow the money — who produces the anger, who distributes it, and who sets the price.

Real Feminism: Equal Rights, Not Privileges

Before we dismantle the antagonism business, one thing must be clear: The feminism recognized and supported by Chinese law has nothing to do with gender antagonism.

Its demands are the basic consensus of social progress:

  • Equal pay for equal work, no workplace discrimination
  • Anti-domestic violence, anti-sexual harassment, anti-trafficking
  • Women's right to education, reproductive autonomy, property inheritance
  • Gender equality before the law

No reasonable person opposes these. This isn't radicalism. This is the baseline of a civilized society.

And here's the crucial point: Real feminism doesn't demand privilege. It demands equal rights plus equal responsibilities plus equal opportunities. No legitimate feminist movement says "women should earn the same as men without working." No real feminist says "all men are potential rapists."

Real mainstream feminism pursues male-female collaboration and mutual development. It creates zero antagonism, because it understands a simple truth: There are no winners at the end of antagonism — only businesses.

Online Distorted Feminism: A Media Business in Feminist Clothing

So what is the "fist-fighting" (打拳) ordinary people see online?

It's not feminism. It's a commercial parasite that grew on feminism's corpse. Capital and algorithms identified gender as the most explosive emotional trigger, wrapped it in feminist packaging, put it on the new media assembly line, and mass-produced rage.

Its logic has nothing to do with equality:

First: Reduce complex problems to "all men's fault."

Income inequality? Men's fault. Class stratification? Men's fault. Workplace competition? Men's fault. Housing prices? Men's fault. — No. These problems have institutional, structural, and historical roots. Unpacking them takes thousands of words. Nobody reads that. But "it's all men's oppression" explains everything in one sentence — low cost, high emotional value.

Second: Claim rights without accepting responsibilities.

Demand bride price, a big house, a car — that's "tradition." Then refuse to work, do housework, care for in-laws, or share family financial responsibility — that's "being an independent woman." Two narratives seamlessly switch depending on convenience.

Third: Demonize all men.

"All men are trash." "Men are mediocre yet overconfident." "All married men cheat." — This takes individual behavior and turns it into a group label. It's the same logic as "all X people are thieves," except one gets called racism and the other gets called empowerment.

These three together are what ordinary people see as "fist-fighting." It has zero connection to gender equality. It is a commercial model for harvesting attention using gender as bait.

The Supply Chain of Gender Antagonism: Three Layers

Now let's dismantle this business.

Layer 1: Platforms Distribute Anger

Go to any major platform's recommendation algorithm and ask it: between a rational analysis of "how men and women can collaborate equally" and an emotional vent of "my husband showed his true colors after marriage, sisters run" — which one gets pushed to more people?

You know the answer.

The algorithm doesn't hate equality. Its KPI has no values — it only cares about dwell time, engagement rate, and share count. And anger is the most addictive emotion for keeping people glued to their screens. Anger makes you re-read comments, type furious replies, share to your group chats. Every one of these actions is fuel for DAU and engagement metrics.

Algorithms don't create gender antagonism. But they are the water utility company — they built the pipes that deliver anger to every doorstep.

Layer 2: KOLs Distribute Positions

With the traffic pipeline built, content is needed to fill it. Enter the KOLs.

A rational, equality-focused account: slow follower growth, few ad deals, comments full of reasonable discussion. In traffic logic, this is "slow death."

An account that says "all men are X": rapid follower growth, comments full of shared grievance narratives, DMs saying "you spoke my heart," brand deals booked months in advance. A male-oriented account saying "women are all Y now" follows the same trajectory.

This isn't about position. It's about supply and demand. Extreme positions are the easiest product to manufacture — they require no research, no logic, no facts. Just one sentence and an angry emoji.

KOLs don't create gender antagonism. They are middlemen — buying anger wholesale from platforms and retailing it to their followers.

Layer 3: Capital Harvests and Monetizes

The end of the supply chain — how does capital collect? Four pipelines:

1. Traffic monetization. A gender-war post gets tens of times more traffic than a rational discussion. Ad revenue sharing, affiliate commissions, live-stream tips — all income is tied to traffic. The ROI of extreme content crushes everything rational.

2. Persona monetization. The "independent woman mentor" persona monetizes through paid communities, courses, and consulting. Courses on "how to spot a toxic man" can generate millions in annual revenue. Customers aren't buying knowledge — they're buying validation and belonging.

3. Emotional consumption. "Treat yourself better." "You don't owe anyone." "A woman should spend a man's money." — These aren't value statements. They're consumption commands. The emotion generated by gender narratives points to one exit: open the shopping cart.

4. Paid opinion contracts. Brands need the female market, so they pay influencers to "position" themselves. A post saying "sisters, this brand supports us" often sits on a marketing budget spreadsheet with a calculated ROI.

These four pipelines form a complete infrastructure: Platforms lay the pipes, KOLs handle distribution, capital collects the water bill.

The Real Function of Gender Antagonism: A Social Pressure Valve

Finally, a deeper point.

Gender antagonism isn't just a business. It serves an upper-level function: redirecting public anger.

When real anxieties about income inequality, class stratification, healthcare costs, and education quality have no outlet, gender antagonism offers the cheapest exit.

Argue about property tax allocation — nobody reads it. Post "women are too materialistic these days" — hundreds of comments in minutes. Discuss unequal education resources — double-digit shares. Post "marriage is a wealth transfer from men to women" — your feed explodes.

Creating a shallow opposition is a million times easier than solving a deep problem.

And "easy" is precisely what capital loves most. Easy means mass-producible. Mass-producible means scalable. Scalable means profitable. As for the social fractures left behind — nobody cares, because the next harvest cycle has already begun.

Close: Want Equality? Fine. Want Privilege? Not Happening.

Let me end with my own stance.

If you're fighting for gender equality, I'm with you. Equal pay — yes. Anti-domestic violence — absolutely. Workplace discrimination — fuck that. These aren't debatable. They're the baseline of law and civilization.

But if you're here to throw punches, demand privileges, or make me pay for your ideology — think again.

Your millions don't impress me. But wanting the treatment that comes with something you don't have? No. You don't have it. And I can't give it to you.

I don't oppose feminism. I oppose everyone — regardless of gender — who turns feminism into a business.

My logic is simple:

  • Talk to me about equality, I respect you.
  • Talk to me about privilege, go to hell.
  • Use gender as a knife at my throat, I will fight back.
  • And when I fight back, it's on my terms.

That's it.
