- 不需要资质授权,因为是评论不是诊断;
- 不需要本人同意,因为是公开人物;
- 不需要承担后果,因为没有形成病历;
按老规矩,follow the money。

On September 25, 2026, the Huangpu Branch of the Shanghai Public Security Bureau posted this on its official Weibo:
Recently, the Huangpu police received a report from a hospital in its jurisdiction stating that rumors targeting a renowned expert at the hospital — a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering — had appeared online. An investigation was opened immediately. It has been established that Liu, a 42-year-old male from another province, in order to manufacture a trending topic and harvest traffic, and with no factual basis whatsoever, deliberately fabricated the rumor that "an academician stole another person's research results," and spread and amplified it across his personal social media and more than fifty group chats, causing severe social impact. Liu has been criminally detained. It has also been established that Zhang, a 34-year-old male from another province, in order to harvest traffic, used AI software to generate multiple fake videos concerning the above rumor and posted them online, causing the rumor to spread widely. Zhang has been criminally detained. Police remind the public: the internet is not outside the law.
Two days earlier, on September 23, Tencent News published an article titled "Zhu Yuejun: 'Nobel-caliber results stolen,' 'suppressed'? Does he actually have a mental health problem?" The byline read "Precision Psychology He Rihui," self-described as a psychiatrist. One line near the top is unusually candid:
Zhu Yuejun has never been to my clinic. I have no personal relationship with him. But I understand human psychology and behavior systematically at the level of implicit memory, so from his performance in an interview I can see through to the essence of the matter in one second.
Further down, the conclusion: the man has "delusional disorder, grandiose type," is "extremely worshipful of everything foreign," and everything traces back to "vanity."
One document, September 23: a diagnosis delivered across a screen about a living man. One document, September 25: two people criminally detained for spreading a rumor.
Two exits, two days apart.
One: What can be verified
The great temptation in writing something like this is to declare someone innocent. Get it wrong and you hand your opponent a knife. So let's fix the boundaries first.
Verifiable:
- The police notification above, in full, via Science and Technology Daily, September 25, 2026 (sourced to @警民直通车-黄浦). Carried identically by Phoenix, NetEase, Tencent, and Lianhe Zaobao.
- Zhu Yuejun himself denies the results were stolen. The September 23 Tencent piece states plainly that in a later interview he "responded explicitly: there was no theft of results; to this day he holds his teacher in great respect and bears not the slightest resentment."
- Rao Yi weighed in. The same report says Rao Yi "stated clearly that the timeline underlying the 'Zhu Yuejun's results were stolen' rumor does not survive close inspection."
- The timeline indeed does not hold. The core of the "Shanghai Protocol" was proposed and put into clinical use by his supervisor in 1986. Zhu Yuejun enrolled in a doctorate at Shanghai Second Medical University in 1989. The origin predates his enrollment by six years.
- The phrase "mentally unstable" originates in no school file. According to the same article: after finishing without a degree he sent out résumés; an employer convened experts to evaluate him; during the interview he again raised the claim that his results deserved a Nobel, which "led the experts to suspect he was 'mentally deranged,'" and he was not hired.
- He sought a psychiatric evaluation himself. He "went to Hunan Provincial Second People's Hospital for a psychiatric assessment, which found no mental health problem whatsoever" — followed immediately by the author's caveat: "but this assessment exists only as Zhu Yuejun's own account; whether it is accurate we have no way of verifying."
- Chen Saijuan's record: at seventeen, in 1968, assigned to Shanghai No. 6 Silk Printing Factory as a machine operator; after a factory merger, moved to No. 5 Silk Weaving Mill; 1972, entered Shanghai Second Medical College; 1978, admitted to Wang Zhenyi's graduate program — that year Wang took only two students, Chen Zhu first, Chen Saijuan second; 2003, elected to the Chinese Academy of Engineering. (People's Digest No. 9, 2009; Wenhui Daily, 2004-02-23; SJTU official site.)
- Wang Zhenyi's numbers: seventy-five years of teaching and practice, thirty-three master's students, twenty-two doctoral students, fifty-five in total, three of whom became academicians. (Xinhua/People's Daily, September 2024.)
Not verifiable, therefore not written:
- "International Hall of Fame." I can find no such record for Zhu Yuejun. The only adjacent claim is a September 17 piece calling him "a name collected in international compendia" without specifying what. No concrete source, so it does not go in the title. One clarification worth making: many people conflate "collected by Springer" with Zhu's honor — that refers to He Rihui's own 3PT technique in the same article, not to Zhu.
- "The academician stole his student's results." The timeline fails, the subject himself denies it, Rao Yi rebutted it, and the police ultimately treated it as fabrication. I don't write it — not out of fear, but because writing it would make me one of those fifty-odd group chats.
- "Genius or crank." I have never met him. I have no medical record, no raw data. I will not evaluate a man I have only seen in a video. But I can evaluate a doctor who evaluates him across a screen.
So this is not a wrongful-conviction appeal. It is about which two hands this machine used in September 2026.
Two: The brochure — a machine's best product is its own manual
I am not taking a single word away from Chen Saijuan's story.
She did not stop studying while operating a loom. True. She entered in 1972 and placed second that year. True. Her work in leukemia cytogenetics put her in the Academy in 2003. Also true.
What interests me is something else: why this story was selected, printed, distributed, and reused for twenty-two years.
Trace its editions: Wenhui Daily 2004, People's Digest 2009, a Women's Federation profile 2015, the Shanghai Science Association 2018, a fresh piece in October 2026. One life, six sets of authors, twenty-two years.
A life retold for twenty-two years is not being retold because it needs recording. It is retold because it has a use.
The use: it is proof, shown to every poor kid in the country, that the road is open.
A loom operator from a Shanghai alley, in a factory at seventeen, ends up an academician. What does that tell you? The system doesn't care where you're from. It only cares how hard you work.
That conclusion isn't false. It is incomplete.
Because the same body of material contains another number. It has simply never been printed on the same page.
Three: The arithmetic of yield
The September 2024 Xinhua/People's Daily profile is explicit: seventy-five years, thirty-three master's, twenty-two doctoral, fifty-five people, three academicians.
The press uses that number to say "one school, four academicians." A lovely story.
Let me lay the fifty-five names out and do the math.
Three out of fifty-five. 5.45 percent.
Where did the other fifty-two go? Most did fine — I grant that freely. A doctorate from a top medical school means at worst a senior post at a tier-one hospital. But none of those fifty-two became a "story." No brochure. No People's Daily interview. No "journey from X to Y."
One of them lives in a village in Hunan on 600 yuan a month.
That is the standard structure of sampling narrative: publish only the winners.
A lottery machine prints tens of thousands of tickets a day; three win. It frames the three, hangs them by the door, and writes: This machine excels at producing millionaires.
Would you say the machine "produced" the winner?
No. You'd say the ticket got lucky.
Swap the machine for a school, the ticket for an academician, and everyone believes it. Because there's clever engineering inside: the winner really did earn it. Not one word is a lie. It simply never shows you the denominator.
A system that never publishes its denominator is not producing scientists. It is producing hope. And hope pays — see section nine.
Four: 1991 — three characters
Now the second document. The one that doesn't exist.
How does a system scrap a person without generating a single document anyone can be held accountable for?
Going by the self-media reporting, the process runs like this:
Step one: classify. The supervisor decides the research direction "has no significance."
Note what this requires: no argument, no written conclusion, no third-party review. It happens in an office, a lab, a corridor. One sentence, and a direction is dead.
Step two: transition. Recommend a leave of absence.
Not expulsion. Not discipline. Not withdrawal. "Leave of absence." A neutral phrase. It accuses no one. It creates no appellant. All that shows in the file is a gap.
Step three: settlement. Credits complete, research complete, degree not conferred, certificate of completion issued.
A completion certificate is neither withdrawal nor expulsion. It means: you finished, but did not meet the standard for the degree. Far more respectable than expulsion — expulsion is punishment; completion is a technical determination. No one is accused by this action.
Step four, outsourced to the market. This happens after he leaves. He sends résumés. Experts interview him. He says his results deserve a Nobel. They conclude he is "mentally deranged."
Note: not one word of this ever entered an official document. Not a diagnostic report, not a personnel file, not a disciplinary decision. It lives only in mouths, and then walks on its own: HR hears it, employers hear it, peers hear it.
It needs no stamp, no signature, no one to own it. And precisely because it needs nothing, it cannot be sued, revoked, or clarified.
Here is the first key observation:
The most efficient thing about this machine is that it produces no case file.
A case file means a responsible party. A responsible party means accountability. Accountability means cost.
Harm without a case file costs nothing.
Five: September 23, 2026 — a diagnosis across a screen
Thirty-five years later, step four got an upgrade.
It used to take an expert frowning in an interview. Now it takes an article.
On September 23, Tencent News published a piece bylined "Precision Psychology He Rihui," self-described psychiatrist, trained at Tongji Medical College of HUST and Fudan's Shanghai Medical College. I have to take this apart paragraph by paragraph — not to attack the man, but to take apart the act.
First: he admits he never examined the patient.
Zhu Yuejun has never been to my clinic. I have no personal relationship with him. But I understand human psychology and behavior systematically at the level of implicit memory, so from his performance in an interview I can see through to the essence of the matter in one second.
One second. Across a video. No consultation, no scales, no history, no consent.
Second: what his evidence is.
Three items: Zhu believes his results deserve a Nobel; during the interview he "deliberately spoke English several times, even proudly"; and when he mentioned that Khalifa University in the UAE had once offered him a position, he "could not hide his excitement and satisfaction."
After the third, the verdict: "That reaction exposes a deep-seated craving for foreign recognition."
Note the transformation. A man who has practiced in a village for thirty years is asked whether anyone ever recognized him, and he looks pleased — a reaction any normal person would have. In this article it becomes pathological evidence.
Third: the diagnosis.
At minimum he has a serious psychological problem; at worst, delusional disorder, grandiose type.
And the closing verdict: "At least for now, Zhu Yuejun is a village doctor who is extremely worshipful of everything foreign, not some buried 'genius.'"
Fourth, and most telling about what this article is: its second subheading reads "You have to be able to play a headwind game to achieve an exceptional life," and roughly half of what follows is about the author — failing a doctoral interview in 2006, founding six businesses, being interviewed on CCTV's Xinwen Lianbo, opening a practice in Beijing's CBD, having his own 3PT technique collected by Springer. It ends: "I hope readers understand: to win at life, you must learn to play the headwind game."
One village doctor's mental state became the hook for another man's motivational story.
I am not saying this doctor is a bad man. I am saying this act is cheap to an almost comic degree:
- No authorization needed — it is commentary, not diagnosis.
- No consent needed — the subject is a public figure.
- No consequences — no medical record was created.
- All you need is an expert title and a platform.
Cost: one article. Output: a man's judgment rendered void.
And he had gone to Hunan Provincial Second People's Hospital for an evaluation that found no mental health problem. The article's handling of that: it's only his own account, unverifiable.
So the circle closes: the evaluation you obtained doesn't count. My one second across the screen does.
Six: September 25, 2026 — two characters
Two days later, the police notification.
Read it for what it does, and what it doesn't.
What it does:
- Reporting party: a hospital in the jurisdiction. Not the academician. The institution.
- Characterization: "no factual basis whatsoever," "deliberately fabricated," "severe social impact."
- Two subjects: Liu, 42, fabricated and spread it across more than fifty group chats; Zhang, 34, used AI to generate fake videos.
- Disposition: criminal detention. Not deletion, not a warning, not administrative penalty.
- Wording: "a certain academician" throughout. Never named.
What it doesn't do:
- No finding on authorship of the results. Nothing about whose paper it was, nothing about how the lab divided the work.
- No statement on whether the completion certificate was proper. Nothing about whether the 1991 "recommended leave" had grounds or followed procedure.
- No response to "mentally unstable." Neither affirmed nor denied.
Three actions omitted. Two actions retained: classify, detain.
Now put the two lines side by side:
| 1991 | 2026 | |
|---|---|---|
| Classification | "No significance" (three characters) | "Rumor" (two characters) |
| Who said it | A supervisor with a position | An agency with police power |
| Argument required | None | None |
| Record required | None | Yes (the notification) |
| Time to take effect | Immediate | Immediate |
Thirty-five years, and the grammar hasn't changed by a syllable. Only the vocabulary has.
In 1991, three characters cost a man his degree. In 2026, two characters cost two men their liberty.
Neither time did anyone have to prove anything first. Both times: I said it, therefore it is.
The second key observation:
This machine's real product is not academicians, and not village doctors. It is the act of classification itself.
Seven: Why both exits must open at once
Read only the notification and it looks like a debunking: the online claims were false, police handled the fabricators, all normal.
Read only the diagnosis and it looks like a self-promoting blogger, not worth mentioning.
Put them in the same week and the logic shows.
Detain the rumormongers alone and one thing remains unaddressed: what if he really did have something? What if the 1991 determination really was flawed? Criminal law can only address what you said, never what the thing itself is.
Diagnose the delusion alone and one thing remains unaddressed: what if his results really were taken? Calling him unstable does not make the underlying claim false.
So both exits must open:
- The criminal exit handles the word "steal." Once it is classified as rumor, no academic investigation into authorship is possible. A classification issued without any accompanying finding has exactly one effect: it ends the matter.
- The psychiatric exit handles the fact that he is sane. Once described as grandiose delusional, his words stop being testimony and become symptoms.
Together they constitute one complete disposition:
His words don't count (he's ill). His results aren't his (it's rumor).
This is not suppression. It is far more advanced than suppression. Suppression leaves traces, provokes backlash, manufactures martyrs. This leaves nothing: it revokes only his standing as a witness.
Once a man's standing as a witness is revoked, nothing he says can be recorded as fact again. If he weeps it is a symptom. If he is silent it is confirmation. If he explains, the delusion has deepened.
He is still alive, still talking, still online. He is simply no longer part of the evidence chain.
Eight: Three cases, one question — who does the rule land on?
| Case | Violation | Disposition | Held accountable |
|---|---|---|---|
| "4+4" medical admissions | Forgery of an entrance transcript (per official notification) | Four certificates revoked, five institutions disciplined | 19 people |
| Fabricating "academician stole results" | Fabrication + AI-generated video (per police notification) | Criminal detention | 2 people |
| A doctorate ending without a degree, 1991 | None | Completion certificate, no degree, then thirty-plus years | 0 people |
Look at the third row's violation column: empty.
Not that nobody was harmed — that nobody's action violated a rule. A supervisor has the right to judge whether a direction has significance. A school has the right not to confer a degree. An employer has the right not to hire. These rights are written into regulations, in black and white.
So the table's real conclusion isn't "the rules are unfair." It is colder:
The rules never chase structures. They chase individuals who committed a recognizable violation.
Give them an act that can be written into a notification — forgery, fabrication — and responsibility snaps instantly onto named heads: nineteen, two, no ambiguity.
Give them no such act — full compliance at every step — and there is nobody to find.
Which is why the September 25 notification leaves you speechless in a particular way: it is entirely correct. Every clause right, procedure right, statute right, wording right. It dealt with two people who did, in fact, fabricate something.
And it permanently closed the only question still worth asking: what exactly were that certificate, that leave of absence, that phrase "mentally unstable"?
Nine: Follow the money
As usual. Not morality — returns.
God-making pays how?
One academician story buys enrollment quotas, evaluation points, key lab approvals, matching local funds, leadership inspections, media coverage, alumni donations. All convertible to money, year after year. So the publicity apparatus has every incentive to keep producing such stories at near-zero cost — it only has to pick from what already exists.
Scrapping costs how much?
Zero. No case file → no responsible party. No appeal → no review. No statistical category → never enters an annual report. A scrapped doctoral student appears as "one completion," not even an outlier.
Debunking costs how much?
Seemingly a lot: case opened, investigation, two detentions, a public notification. But the cost itself leaks information: if nobody believed the rumor, you would not need criminal procedure.
The notification says "received a report from a hospital in its jurisdiction." Filing the report concedes the matter had reached a scale requiring public authority. The detention concedes the spread had become unstoppable.
So the debunking is itself a confession. Not that the theft was real — that the claim's credibility had grown high enough to be traded against liberty.
Diagnosing costs how much?
Zero. One article, one platform, one expert title. No consultation, no records, no authorization, no consequences.
Which makes diagnosis the cheapest disposal tool in the entire toolkit.
Debunking needs police. Detention needs evidence. Procedure needs time. Diagnosis needs a headline.
That is why in this machine's toolbox, "you're ill" always outranks "you're wrong." The first is free. The second requires proof.

Early Oct Keyword searches return dead links across mainstream platforms
Oct 24 As of writing, zero official response on authorship, on the 1991 procedure, or on "mentally unstable"
Seventeen days.
He was issued a completion certificate in 1991. For thirty-three years, nobody spoke for him.
In mid-September 2026, someone did. In seventeen days it was processed clean: classified, detained, removed, zeroed out.
That is the second proof: a story that took thirty-three years to be told took seventeen days to dispose of.
If this really were just a scholarly disagreement, just a thirty-year-old grudge, if there really were nothing here —
why would it take seventeen days, criminal procedure, a platform-wide purge, and not one sentence saying "upon investigation, the 1991 procedure was proper"?

Platform article (citable, flagged as the author's opinion)
- Tencent News, 2026-09-23, "Zhu Yuejun: 'Nobel-caliber results stolen'... does he actually have a mental health problem?" bylined "Precision Psychology He Rihui." All quotations in this piece are verbatim, including "never been to my clinic," "see through in one second," "delusional disorder, grandiose type," "extremely worshipful of everything foreign," Zhu's own denial that his results were stolen, Rao Yi's assessment of the timeline, and the account of the Hunan evaluation. This is one author's opinion, not a medical document.
Self-media (leads only)
- Village visit video by "Pan Dia" — the original propagation source.
- September 17 claim of "a name collected in international compendia." Specifics unverified; not used.
- Records of Douyin removals: X user screenshots, late September 2026. Not platform-confirmed.
Three things I deliberately did not write
- "International Hall of Fame." No record found. The only adjacent claim is item 10, and it is vague. Not used.
- "Collected by Springer." That refers to He Rihui's own 3PT technique in the same article, not to Zhu Yuejun. I corrected the conflation in the body.
- "Genius or crank." Not my call. I only take apart the act of judging him across a screen.
One remaining soft spot
The earliest origin I can trace for "mentally unstable" is an expert's suspicion during a job interview (as relayed by the He Rihui article), while Zhu's own psychiatric evaluation found no problem — but that finding exists only as his account. I have not seen either the interview record or the evaluation document. I could not independently verify either, so no line in the body treats them as settled fact. If harder material surfaces, this section needs rewriting.
